As a compassionate company, Kathmandu Adventure Treks takes an active part in working to help underprivileged children. Our chosen charity is the Nepal Helpless Children's Education Programme (NHCEP), a project set up in 1997 to teach children from deprived and impoverished backgrounds.
NHCEP was established because so many children in Nepal live on the streets and are forced to beg, steal or do menial work. Others are exploited as slaves or domestic labourers. Concern over these issues led NHCEP to set up schools for these children, as well as an orphanage, where some of the youngsters have been taken off the streets and now lead dignified and happy lives.
NHCEP has a network of international supporters and benefactors but it is a constant struggle to obtain sufficient funds to keep all parts of the project running. For this reason, Kathmandu Adventure Treks has pledged to donate 10 per cent of all profits to NHCEP. This in addition to our on-going earthquake recovery support for a Kathmandu school.
So, as well as enjoying the experience of a lifetime on your trek, you can rest assured that many deserving children will benefit from your holiday ! |
