Trekking
in Tibet
Ganden-Samye
Trek
Combines
the splendor and history of Tibet's
most important temples and palaces with
a glimpse of nomadic and village life
and spectacular scenery. This trip incorporates
a 5-day trek into the classic overland
route between Lhasa and Kathmandu. In
Lhasa visit the awe-inspiring Potala
Palace and Jokhang Temple as well as
the great university monasteries of
Drepung and Sera – leaving time,
of course, for shopping on the Barkhor
pilgrim circuit.

Namtso
& Yangpachen-Tsurphu Trek
An
excellent trip for those interested in
the semi-nomadic lifestyle of the Tibetan
herders (drokpa). After exploring some
of the many wonders of Lhasa head north
to the spectacular turquoise blue lake,
Nam-tso. The lovely Tashi Dor peninsula
is home to myriad species of migrating
birds, a small gompa, hermitage caves
and it is a popular place for herders
to camp.

Ngor
Monastery Trek
This
short trek, once part of the trade route
between Shalu and Sakya offers the chance
to get off the ‘road' and into some
small, seldom visited villages. It may
be incorporated into any trip passing
through Shigatse and, being neither particularly
high nor particularly difficult, is an
excellent introduction to trekking in
Tibet.
